Lucy is doing great! Her port removal surgery went well last Friday. They let both JD and I be with her the whole time except surgery. That was really nice. Lucy was so brave going in. Thankfully they were able to put her to sleep initially with gas so she didn't have to get an IV while she was awake. That really helped. Unfortunately, she had a very difficult time waking up from the anesthesia, possibly her worst reaction yet. But I was so proud of her because after screaming and thrashing for a while she got control and fought her way back to calm. You could she her fighting the battle for self-control. And she won! We were so so proud of her. She has been doing really well since then. She only needed one dose of pain meds after the surgery and then didn't need any more. Thankfully her stitches will resolve and they sealed her with super glue so we don't have to worry about wound care. It is so exciting to be done with the biggest and hardest chapter of this story. I know I finally feel closer. She is still facing risks of many different side effects and a lowered immune system. But like all of life, we will take it as it comes, with faith in our good sovereign God. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! We are so incredibly thankful for you! I hope God has blessed you through this trial as he has blessed us. Prayer needs: - Continued protection for Lucy against disease and side effects - continued emotional healing for our whole family
