Great news! At the doctor's appointment last Thursday, Lucy's numbers were so good that the doctor said we don't need to come back for another appointment until we are due for our last chemo session in January! We are so excited to have a break from the traveling. It is also nice to get a break from the daily shots. It's so wonderful to have made it this far and for things to start calming down a bit. Thank you so much for your prayers for Lucy dealing with the steroids. This round has been so much better for her emotionally. And she shouldn't need any more steroids after this! We are so thankful. January 4th is her next and last scheduled chemo session. It is only the low dose for two chemo drugs so hopefully side effects will be minimal. It will be at least 6 days in the hospital, but hopefully they will be uneventful. After she gets out of chemo, she has a couple more scans, an "end of treatment" meeting with the doctor and then surgery to get her port out. We are hoping that can all be done by early February. After that she will just have monthly check ups for a year or so to make sure everything is good. The best news: the doctor says it is very unlikely that this cancer will come back! We are so incredibly thankful that the outcome of this rough season is what we hoped for, that the medicine has been so effective and that God has answered yes to all our prayers for healing. We are so blessed, so thankful for our whole support team, and so proud of our little warrior princess. She has fought a hard battle and yet has managed to keep her heart for others. May God continue to bless her and work in her heart and life. Prayer needs: - A massive prayer of thanks for everyone that has helped and prayed and for all the prayers our Father has answered yes to - For emotional and physical recovery for everyone in the family after a really crazy season - For Lucy's anxiety to continue improving. That God would give us wisdom on how to help her through this. - For the strengthening of her faith and for God to use this experience to his glory in her life - For little David as he adjusts to regular life again after having to be separated from his mama so much, including for this coming chemo session. He is struggling with separation anxiety - For us to finish well as witnesses to all the hospital staff and patients we have the privilege of interacting with Neat connections: Not only is our main doctor a believer, but we found out on Thursday that our nurse navigator, who always helps us with things at the clinic, is a believer too! We got to chat about missions trips and the goodness of God. It is such an encouragement to make these connections in a secular environment. I hope we can be an encouragement to them in return as they fight on the front lines for the lives of so many precious children.
