Good news! One of the doctors petitioned the hospital board and cancer patients are now exempt from the ban on "elective" surgeries. This means Lucy will hopefully be able to get her port out as soon as possible. We are very excited for this! Lucy has a CT scan of her chest and an echo cardiogram scheduled for tomorrow, Monday the 24th. Please be praying for everything to go well and for the scans to be clear! Lucy has been doing pretty well overall, but she has had some days with lower energy. It is hard to transition from laying in a hospital bed on and off for a week at a time to running around like a normal kid. The mental side of it, remembering that she is no longer sick, is possibly the hardest part. Please be praying for her transition back to normal life and for our family to find our new normal, whatever that is. This experience with cancer has irreversibly changed all of us. Many of these effects I don't think we are even aware of yet. Lucy struggles with far more anxiety and need for control then she used to. I am currently struggling with a lot of underlying stress and sleep issues. I know each of the boys, JD, Josiah and David, have felt the effects as well. It will take time for us to recognize and sort through all of this. Please be praying for us as we walk this path of healing. Lucy will hopefully be getting her port out the 2nd or 3rd week of February. It will be a surgery requiring them to put her to sleep and cut her open. She has certainly been through worse by now, but it is still a big deal. Please be praying for the scheduling, procedure and healing of her surgery. Thank you all for your continued support. Prayer needs: - That the scans tomorrow come back clear - That the scheduling of her port removal can happen soon - That we can handle well the anxiety of dealing with these logistics - That God would give us extra grace in our marriage and as parents to heal and help our children heal - That God would guide our family to what is next for us and how we can honor him Some good reading: We went to the library this week and the kids got their first library cards. They were so excited checking out books we ended up with a total of 35. It's so good to see them excited for reading. I'm so thankful that we live in a place where we have access to so many good books for free.

This is all so so so good!! Our hearts are so full of hope and praise, cheering as we watch His story unfold in your lives. We will definitely keep praying for each of you as you process and heal and treasure up all these things in your hearts. God must have something special in mind for your little girl. As Tozer would say, it is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until he has first been hurt deeply 💔. And as my mom would say, nothing is over until you have stopped learning from it. ❤ I'm praying for you especially, Mandy, momming is crazy hard, even at the best of times! Every day it takes m…
