Today will be Lucy's third day of chemo and her second lumbar puncture. The doctors are very pleased so far with how her body is responding. Please be praying that her body continues to hold up and the cancer continues to die a firey death.
It's a very intense regiment in order to fight the two cancers at once so she is going through a lot. She is needing occasional platelet and blood transfusions to keep her numbers ok. She is retaining some water and therefore swelling. She has been struggling a lot emotionally to handle everything. And the steroids and other medicines have been causing some severe angry mood swings, all of which is normal. She then has moments where she is her normal sweet self and we cherish these. Pray that we can handle all of this with strength, love and patience as the situation calls for it.
Her pain seems to be going down a little though she is still on strong medicine constantly. She is struggling with nausea so she hasn't been eating much. The doctors aren't worried about that for this week though. Hopefully she will start feeling better after this first week or so.
The medical staff continues to be amazing. We are so thankful for all the support we have from our family and friends as well as the community connected with the hospital.
This race is about endurance and faith. May God give us what we need to serve Lucy well through this and be witnesses to those around us.
Prayer needs:
- That the chemo would continue to be effective.
- That Lucy's body would continue holding up under the strain.
- That God would comfort her heart and give her courage.
- That we would have the wisdom and strength to parent her well through this.
- That God would use us to serve Him through this however he sees fit.
- That all of the wonderful people helping support us would get the breaks they need, etc.
- For my daily headaches to go away.
- For the logistics of getting babysitting for David while I'm at the hospital.
- For our sweet boy to feel loved and cared for through this time.
Fun fact: PBS has been showing the same episode of Arthur 3 times a day all week. We are very thankful they also have a DVD player in the room.
