Lucy is starting the intense first official round of chemo today. She will be receiving one medicine for 5 hours straight today while the check her vitals every 15 minutes. Tomorrow she has another lumbar puncture. Pray that everything goes well with all of that. The doctors are still happy with everything they are seeing so far. If all goes well, we should be able to get a short break from the hospital by the 25th. We will need to stay in the Phoenix area so we can be close to the hospital in case anything goes wrong. Please be praying against fevers and any kinds of infection, etc., for that time away from the hospital. We will be staying at my sister's house. Lucy is very excited to spend time with her cousins and brothers.

Last night we got to have a short visit outside on the patio with both of our boys, my sister, my mom and two of Lucy's cousins. It was such a good time. Lucy looked forward to it all day and she really enjoyed just being a normal kid for a while. A normal kid attached to an IV tube and feeling weak. But still, it was good.

She is working on adjusting to this new reality. There are some really hard moments and other moments where she is able to still have fun and smile and laugh. The idea of losing her hair is understandably very difficult. I am so incredibly proud of how she is handling all of this. She is eating like a champ and letting us take herbon frequent walks. The doctor says these things are incredibly important for quick healing. Please be praying for God to continue giving her courage and strength. We are trying to help her capture a warrior spirit to fight this battle with heart. May God give us wisdom in helping her through this.

Prayer needs:

- maximum effectiveness and minimal symptoms from the chemo

- sleep for JD

- my daily headaches

- Lucy's continued eating and exercising

- for strength, courage and joy for Lucy

- for Josiah and the cousins to be ready to support Lucy well on our break from the hospital.

- for us to be witnesses however we can

A new friend:

A few days ago Lucy met a little girl in the hallway who is also here for treatment of some kind. She saw Lucy's awesome new unicorn robe and mentioned that she loves unicorns too. Lucy had the idea of giving her one of her new pop it toys that is shaped like a unicorn. It was so neat to see Lucy's face light up with excitement about getting to give a gift. She has such a giving spirit.
