Do you think that after a person has climbed Mount Everest that every other climb seems easy by comparison? They say 90% of every challenge is mental. I feel like that is true with cancer.
Of course our sweet Lucy has lots of physical challenges: pain, weakness, trouble eating, trouble sleeping, risk of infection, painful procedures like daily shots and swallowing pills. These have been hard to fight through the last few days and there has been a lot of tears. But the biggest battle has been mental. She is struggling with anger, fear, losing hope, and a downward spiral of negative thoughts. And I'm having trouble having enough patience, hope and wisdom myself to help her work through this stuff.
Please keep praying for us. I feel like the prayers and support of all you precious people is sustaining us through this time. Thank you for being a part of our "Everest climbing team". The love of Christ is on full display through His family.
Prayer needs:
- For Lucy to be filled with courage and hope for this fight
- For comfort and adjustment as Lucy goes through hair loss (it's started already)
- For strength for my sister and her family as they care for us
- For JD's safe travels as he takes care of work in Flagstaff and then hopefully returns to us soon
- For David (he's been extra fussy lately)
- For protection from infection for Lucy (we've had several almost fever scares)
- For strength and wisdom for me to care for Lucy well
- For healing
Something fun: Keren-ha has succeeded in teaching David to clap when she says, "Bravo!". He looks very proud of himself, probably because we all cheer for him when he does it.
